SSC-WOS INTER-CLUB MASTERS LEAGUE: Friday, 16 Oct 2009 - NUSS vs CBC - Results

Hi all,

Here are the results for yesterday's home game against CBC where we won 6-3! That's 2 wins now....

Match report
The ladies doubles (Eunice/Yee Fong) and Joxan/De Yun started first. We lost the former and won the latter. Result 1-1. Up next was Charles/Kenneth and Michael/Ken. The 2 pairs played extremely well and won their matches to give us a 3-1 lead.

Next was Adrian/Francis and KC/Wong Cheng. Both matches went to rubber set. KC/Wong Cheng managed to win narrowly to bring us to 4-1 and leaving us needing just 1 more match to seal the tie. Then Adrian/Francis lost (because we knew that David Ko/Davis would seal the tie for us!) for the overall score to be at 4-2.

Up stepped David Ko/Davis and the mixed doubles. We won the first set in mixed doubles but lost the first set for David/Davis. We eventually lost the mixed doubles but David/Davis came back strongly to seal the match and tie to give us an unassailable 5-3 lead.

Then Tony/Peter capped a memorable night by winning the last match.

Our next match against Warren will be important for us to win. If we beat Warren, we stand a good chance of 3rd position. Warren beat CBC 5-4 but they lost to SSC 7-2 in the first match.

1) Friday, 6 Nov 2009 - WGCC vs NUSS (away) at Warren Golf & country club
2) Wed, 9 Dec 2009 - PBP vs NUSS (away) at Singapore Swimming Club.

SSC-WOS INTER-CLUB MASTERS LEAGUE: vs ESRC : 8 Oct Thursday - Results and drama

Hi team,

Here are the results for yesterday's away game against ESRC where we won 5-4!

We started off by taking a 2-1 lead (won match #1 & #4 but lost mixed doubles #9), then it went to 3-3 (won match #2 but lost on matches #3 & #5). After that we were down 4-3 (lost match #7) and thankfully the ladies doubles forced the tiebreak at 4-4 for us.

Then up stepped Wong Cheng/Tony to bring us home with a lot of heart, drama, blood (almost!) and sweat; as you can see from the scores below. Luckily Wong Cheng managed to rush over in time (the opponent even threatened to get a walkover) after his meeting and get onto court to play almost immediately... Well done. The match finally ended about 1030pm.



We're still on track for 3rd position.
