28th NUSS - PAUM Games : Badminton - Congrats! NUSS 7: 1 PAUM (Part 1)

Hi NUSS Badminton Family,

 

Congrats to Team NUSS Badminton … Historic win 7:1 ….

 

To round it off, Team NUSS wrested the overall title from PAUM through other wins in Golf & Tennis, draw in Soccer with losses in bowling and Table Tennis …our last overall title was way back in 2007 …

 

The games in the afternoon started off with lunch and culminated with a lovely closing dinner to show our NUSS hospitality to our friends across the causeway …

NUSS MPH closure announcement : 1) Saturday, 26th 2013 from 1 pm to 6 pm - 28th NUSS-PAUM badminton; 2) Monday, 28th Oct - Wednesday, 30th Oct, 5 pm - Maintenance

Hi NUSS Badminton Family,

 

I have two (2) quick announcements on NUSS MPH closure ..

 

1)    No Saturday Section Session on 26^th October 2013, 2 pm to 4 pm (Due to 28^th NUSS PAUM Games)

 

It will be great and good for some more of us to come down to support us … you might have some "free-play" time after the matches proper ..

 

Please see attached on past statistics – Badminton together with other sports hope to achieve a break-through this year to wrest the overall title from PAUM .. Our badminton last victory was in 2010 during the 25^th anniversary … so let's come together a one family to cheer us on …

 

2)     No Special Tuesday Badminton (STB) on 29^th October 2013, 7 pm to 10 pm (Due to court maintenance)

 

P/S:  The courts are re-open after  5 pm on Wednesday, 30^th  October 2013 as "reported" by the Maintenance Team – So we don't expect our regular Wednesday Section Session on 30^th October 2013, 7 pm to 10 pm to be affected.

Some 11 of us went to Hong Kong to have a friendly in our personal unofficial capacity…with some Hong Kong University Players whom we got to personally …

 

Here are some snapshots of our great company, great friendship, great game, great foods, everything great …

 

For the record, the overall tie was 3 wins each & 1 draw… so draw match …

 

We are all looking forward to host the return leg in NUSS MPH sometime next year…

To continue the enduring friendship of former sister-campuses between NUSS & PAUM (University Malays Alumni Society) across golf, badminton, soccer, table tennis, tennis and squash", the 28^th edition NUSS-PAUM games will be held in Singapore from 25^th (For Golf only) – 26^th October 2013;

Congrats to Team NUSS Badminton .. we won ITE 3 – 1 (best of 5 in knock out stage) in the final for our 4^th consecutive titles (2007, 2009, 2011 & 2013) …

Match highlight of the evening (Doesn't mean other matches are not worth mentioning but I feel I should make special mention of it here) – In MD100B where our Kenneth/Peter found themselves behind 0-7 in 1^st game and caught up only to lose 20-22;  In the 2^nd game, after leading 12-11, they lost 7 consecutive points to go behind 12-18.  They up their match temp to win 3 consecutive points 15-18.  After they allowed PBP pair one more point, they reclaimed service at 16-19 and with their great mental strength, strung another 5 consecutive points to win 21-19 forcing a rubber.  In the rubber, the match was evenly matched at 9-9.  Kenneth/Peter played brilliantly to win 9 consecutive points to lead 18-9;  They romped home handsomely 21-12 in a thrilling contest lasting about 35 minutes.

 

Our next ICML match is away to WGCC on 4^th October; 2013;

9th ICML 2013-14: Update and Matches Schedule

Dear NUSS Badminton Family,

Together with six (6) other fellow participants, NUSS will be taking part in the 9^th ICML 2013-14 which will kick off on Thursday, 15^th August 2013;  It will culminate in a closing dinner and prize presentation to be held on Saturday, 18^th January 2014;  Please see attached photo for 8^th ICML 2012-13 closing dinner and prize presentation ceremony where NUSS finished 3^rd out of 7 teams (equalling 2009-2010 season)

Away: Match day#1 – Thursday, 15^th August 2013, 7 pm (SSC Vs NUSS)

Home: Match day#2 – Friday, 23^rd August 2013, 7 pm (NUSS Vs SMBP) – Singapore Masters Badminton Party (new)

Home: Match day#3 -  Friday, 6^th September 2013, 7 pm (NUSS Vs PBP)

Away: Match day#4 – Friday, 4^th October 2013, 7 pm (WGCC Vs NUSS)

Home: Match day#5 – Friday, 1^st November 2013, 7 pm (NUSS Vs CBC)

Away: Match day#6 – Wednesday, 4^th December 2013, 7 pm (HVBP Vs NUSS)

 

B)     No interruption to our regular Section Nights during competition season

In preparation for our opening match on 15^th August and subsequent matches, there will be intentional pairing and match play among our ICML players during Sundays (start with tomorrow) and Wednesdays (start with 31^st July) Section Nights and if/when required during the competition season especially come nearer to match days.
